Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has appointed Prof. Adamu Ahmed as the new Vice-Chancellor. His tenure begins on 1st May 2025 and will last for five years.
ABU Announces New Vice-Chancellor
The Governing Council of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, approved the appointment of Prof. Adamu Ahmed as Vice-Chancellor at its 209th Special Meeting on 5th February 2025.
The decision was conveyed in a letter signed by Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, CFR.

Background of Prof. Adamu Ahmed
Prof. Ahmed is a lecturer at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, ABU, Zaria.
- Born on 2nd April 1964
- Serves as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council at the Federal University of Education, Kano

- BSc Geography – 1985, ABU Zaria
- MSc Urban and Regional Planning – 1990, ABU Zaria
- PhD Urban and Regional Planning – 2000, ABU Zaria
- Advanced Certificate in Real Estate Development and Finance – 2006, Urban Land Institute, Tampa, Florida, USA
