The Energy Technology Institute, University of Port Harcourt (ETI-UniPort) is positioned to develop capacities in research and development, business and policy to drive the national and global energy transition agenda for sustainable development. There is a global clamour for Energy transition, which is a pathway towards transforming the national and global energy sector from inefficient energy utilisation to efficient and sustainable systems by the second half of this century through using low-carbon energy systems and greening technologies. At its heart is the decarbonisation of energy-related systems to limit climate change. The Institute is anchored on Decarbonisation, Decentralisation, Digitalisation and the Tripple Helix (3D-TH) model.
Our vision is to be positioned not just as Africa's best but among the best global energy institutes. We are committed to developing energy solutions and professionals with a broad understanding of navigating the complex technical, policy, business, and financing challenges facing the energy sector, inspiring a new generation of energy leaders.
Graduate Programmes at the Institute
The Institute's environment is conducive to learning and practical application; students can access audiovisual aids, e-learning and internet facilities. Students undergo a 3-month internship in relevant companies and field trips, providing them with invaluable real-world experience. Students are encouraged to live and work together, fostering team spirit development. The Teaching Faculty consists of Lecturers from the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), other Universities within and outside Nigeria, Lecturers from Professional bodies abroad, and experts from the Industry (the TripleHelix education).
Our Programmes (full-time duration):
1. Alternative Fuels and Energy (18 months)
2. Automotive Technology (18 months)
3. Energy Access and Renewable Energy Technology (18 months)
4. Energy Storage and Fuel Cells (18 months)
5. Energy Transition Systems (18 months)
6. Natural Gas Engineering Management (12 months)
7. Petroleum Asset Management (12 months)
8. Powertrain and Lubrication Technology (18 months)
9. Software Engineering (12 months)
Duration: Part-time (flexible) study is at least double the full-time calendar months.
Award of Degree: MEng (engineering background) or MSc (physical sciences background) awarded by the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
Admission Requirements:
Candidates must possess a minimum of Bachelorโs degree, Second Class Honors, in any branch of Engineering and Physical Sciences and should have completed their NYSC before 25 September 2024 (for Nigerians only). Consideration may be given to Sponsored Company Staff with good academic standing.
Application Processing Fee: A non-refundable Application Processing Fee of Twenty Thousand (N20, 000.00 ) in certified bank draft is payable to the Energy Technology Institute, University of Port Harcourt. Application Forms can be obtained online at www.etiuniportng.org . The Form should be completed and submitted online, with attached evidence of payment. Transcript should be addressed to the Energy Technology Institute, University of Port Harcourt.
