Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has named Professor OtoAbasi Etim Akpan as its new Acting Vice-Chancellor. He takes over from Professor Nse U. Essien, who completed his tenure.

About Professor Akpan
Professor Akpan has served in several key roles within AKSU, including:
– Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic)
– Dean of the Faculty of Arts
– University Orator
– Head of History and International Studies
– Acting DVC (Administration)
– Director of International Collaborations and Linkages
– Member of the Governing Council
– Former Head of the Obio Akpa Campus

Experience Beyond AKSU
Prof. Akpan is well known nationally and internationally:
– Sabbatical Fellow at the National Defence College, Abuja
– Visiting Professor at UniAbuja and UniPort
– Board Member, Institute of Governance and Social Research, Jos

Educational Background
– From Ibiaku Itam, Itu LGA, Akwa Ibom State
– Studied History at University of Calabar
– Master’s Degree from University of Ibadan
– Further studies at University of Jos and University of Port Harcourt (PhD in Diplomatic Studies)
– Began lecturing in 1997 at UniUyo
– Joined AKSU in 2013
