The Federal Government Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Awards application is now open. Eligible Nigerians can now apply for undergraduate and postgraduate study scholarships abroad.

The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr Morufu Olatunji Alausa, has detailed the requirements and application process for this opportunity.



Eligible Programmes for Federal Government Scholarship Awards

Undergraduate Programmes
Scholarships are available for studies in Russia, Morocco, Hungary, Egypt, and Algeria.
Fields of study include:
- Engineering
- Geology
- Agriculture
- Sciences and Mathematics
- Environmental Sciences
- Sports
- Law and Social Sciences
- Biotechnology
- Architecture
- Medicine
- Pilot Engineering
- Neurology

Postgraduate Programmes
Scholarships cover Master’s and PhD programmes in Russia, China, Hungary, Serbia, and Romania.

Applicants who completed their first degree in Russia are only eligible for postgraduate scholarships in Russia.



Steps to Apply for Federal Government Scholarship Awards
1. Visit the Federal Ministry of Education website. https://fsbn.com.ng/scholarships
2. Click on the Federal Scholarship Board icon on the homepage.
3. Follow the provided guidelines and complete the online application form.
4. Print the completed form for reference.


Eligibility Criteria for Federal Government Scholarship Awards

Undergraduate Scholarships
- Must have seven distinctions (grades A and B) in WAEC or WASSCE, including English and Mathematics.
- Certificates must be dated 2023 or 2024 (non-African countries) or 2024 (African countries).
- Applicants must be aged between 17 and 20 years.

Postgraduate Scholarships
- Must hold a first-class or second-class upper division degree.
- Must have completed the NYSC programme.
- Age limits: 35 years for Master’s and 40 years for PhD candidates.

Required documents:
- NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
- Evidence of employer release (if applicable).



General Notes for All Applicants
- BEA countries use non-English languages for instruction, requiring a mandatory one-year language course.
- Hungarian applicants may apply for up to two fields of study through the Stipendium Hungaricum website (application closes 15 January 2025).
- Russian applicants should visit the Education in Russia portal.
- Russian postgraduate applicants must have completed their first degree in Russia.
- All documents, including WAEC/WASSCE results, degree certificates, NYSC certificates, and NIN slips, must be uploaded in PDF format.



Documents Required for Submission
Successful candidates must provide:
- Authenticated copies of academic certificates.
- Current international passport data page.
- Medical reports from government hospitals.
- Birth certificates and indigene letters.
- Police clearance certificates (if required).
