New Age Policy for Tertiary Admissions Approved by Education Minister
The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, has announced a new policy allowing candidates aged 16 and above to gain admission into tertiary institutions.
This decision followed significant pushback from university and college administrators during a JAMB policy meeting held in Abuja.
Initially, the minister had set the minimum age for admission at 18, which sparked concerns among education stakeholders.
With the revised policy, students who have taken the UTME are now eligible to proceed with their admissions, starting at age 16.
