Lagos State to Complete NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in December 2024

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced that the permanent NYSC orientation camp at Agbowa, Ikorodu will be completed and ready for use by December 2024. This announcement was made during the swearing-in of the 2024 Batch C Stream 1 corps members on Friday at the temporary camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.

What This Means for NYSC Members:

1. New Permanent Camp:
- Once completed, the new orientation camp at Agbowa will replace the temporary camp in Iyana-Ipaja.

- The permanent camp is expected to provide better facilities and a more comfortable experience for future NYSC members.

2. Batch C Stream 1 Details:
- A total of 4,335 corps members (1,484 males and 2,851 females) are participating in this stream.

- Some corps members posted to Lagos are attending orientation in neighboring states like Oyo and Osun.

Why the Orientation Camp Matters:
During the orientation program, corps members are expected to:
- Participate in SAED Programs: These are skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development sessions designed to teach practical skills for self-reliance and financial independence.

- Network with Others: The camp provides a great opportunity to meet fellow corps members and form relationships that can benefit your career and personal growth.

- Prepare for the Service Year: The training and activities in camp will help you get ready for your primary assignment.

Guidelines for Corps Members:
- Stay within the camp and follow all camp rules.

- Listen to instructions from camp officials and participate actively in all activities.

- Use the orientation period to get both physically and mentally prepared for the 11 months of service after camp.

Governmentโ€™s Support for NYSC:
The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, representing the Governor, assured corps members of the governmentโ€™s support. He emphasized the importance of taking orientation activities seriously to ensure personal and professional development.

The Lagos NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Christana Salmwang, also reminded corps members of their role in nation-building, encouraging them to stay loyal, united, and committed to the growth of the country.

With the completion of the permanent camp in December 2024, future corps members in Lagos can look forward to an improved and more comfortable orientation experience.
