NYSC DG Encourages Corps Members To Plan For The Future During Service Year

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Y. D. Ahmed, has called on corps members to utilize their service year as a stepping stone for their future. Speaking to the 2024 Batch C, Stream 2 corps members at the Yikpata orientation camp in Kwara State, he highlighted the importance of planning, skill acquisition, and staying security-conscious.
The DG urged corps members to avoid wasting time on unproductive activities and focus on building a solid foundation for their future.
Ahmed expressed concerns about the risks associated with night travel and cautioned corps members against unnecessary journeys.
The DG encouraged participation in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme, designed to equip corps members with practical skills and funding opportunities for business ventures. He stressed the importance of learning at least two skills during the service year.
Ahmed reminded corps members to prioritize their safety by being vigilant and adhering to NYSC guidelines.
The Director-General concluded by emphasizing that the service year is more than just wearing the NYSC uniform; itโs an opportunity to develop oneself and make meaningful contributions to society. He urged corps members to focus on personal growth, avoid distractions, and set clear goals for a successful future.
