Police Recover Bodies Of Two Abducted Women From Anambra River

The Anambra State Police have recovered the decomposed bodies of two Cameroonian women who were previously reported missing, believed to be victims of a kidnapping incident.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed on Saturday, November 29, 2025, that the bodies were found in Omambala River, Anambra West Local Government Area. The victims were among three women who had been missing for some time.
Two suspects, Nonso Augustine Akpeh (37) and Kingsley Akpeh (44), have been arrested and are assisting police with information, while a third suspect remains at large.
The recovered bodies were positively identified by the family as Mrs. Bognou Alice and her niece, Miss Sandra. Both bodies have been deposited in a mortuary for further investigation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, expressed condolences to the families and has ordered intensified search operations to locate the remaining missing woman. He also directed all units to increase efforts to apprehend the third suspect, Uchenna Nicholas Mmadu, to ensure justice is served.
“The Anambra State Police Command remains committed to protecting lives, maintaining security, and delivering justice,” the statement concluded.
