Stop Manipulating Candidates To Change Programmes โ€“ JAMB Warns Varsities

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cautioned tertiary institutions against manipulating candidates into changing their chosen programs. According to JAMB, some institutions are allegedly luring or coercing high-ranking candidates on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) to switch to less-subscribed programs through internal portals.

JAMB describes this practice as "unethical and manipulative," emphasizing that all admission processes must be conducted solely through the CAPS platform. Any changes made outside this platform are considered unauthorized and potentially harmful to candidates.

The Board warns that candidates who succumb to such pressure and change their programs on CAPS will be deemed to have done so voluntarily, and JAMB will not be held responsible for any negative outcomes.

JAMB has identified some institutions involved in this practice and has initiated regulatory measures to curb these infractions. The Board advises candidates to ignore any requests to change programs through unofficial channels and reaffirms its commitment to a merit-driven, transparent, and equitable admission process.
