Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into Postgraduate programmes of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) for the 2025/2026 session.
The programmes include Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s degree, Master of Philosophy (M.Phil ) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D ) across various faculties, schools, institutes and centres.
General Admission Requirements
- Candidates must have at least five (5) credit passes at O’Level (WASSC/NECO/GCE or equivalent).
- Holders of Pass degrees or diplomas are not eligible.
- Candidates with a 3rd class degree must possess a PGD to qualify for a Master’s programme.
- Applicants with Master’s degree and Weighted Average Score (WAS) of 55–59% may be considered for M.Phil in the first instance.
- PhD applicants must have at least 60% WAS in their Master’s degree.
- PhD candidates from other universities may be required to take and pass compulsory UNIBEN courses with a minimum of 60%.
- NYSC discharge, exemption, or exclusion certificate is mandatory for clearance.
Referee Reports
Applicants are to print out referee forms during application. Referees should complete and submit directly to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies. Applications will not be processed without referee reports.
Important Notes
- Some courses may require written entrance examinations. Always check the website for updates.
- Use a personal and active email/phone number for communication.
Method of Application
- Application forms are available online at UNIBEN Portal.
- Candidates are to pay N22,000.00 using a valid VERVE or MasterCard ATM card.
- Forms must be accurately completed online, then printed alongside referee forms.
- Deadline for application: 30th November, 2025.
Admission Procedure
- Only candidates offered provisional admission should proceed to pay the non-refundable acceptance fee of N60,000.00 .
- Acceptance fee must be paid before clearance.
