University Of Lagos Postgraduate Diploma In Education (PGDE) Admissions

The Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) Programme is now available in an Open and Distance Learning (ODL mode). It is designed to provide professional training in education to those who hold a first degree in an academic field other than education. Courses are delivered through online mode to enable candidates to acquire adequate and appropriate teaching strategies and modern techniques in science, mathematics and technology education, adult education, school administration, health and sports education, guidance and counselling, curriculum development, and more. The online mode of delivery allows candidates to study at their own pace and convenience and allows them to acquire and practice pedagogical skills.


ELIGIBILITY



1. A candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from the University of Lagos or any other institution recognized by the University Senate with a minimum of third class.
2. A holder of a minimum of lower credit in the Higher National Diploma from institutions recognized by the University Senate.
3. A candidate must have completed N.Y.S.C or be exempted from the scheme.
4. Other regulations of the School of Postgraduate Studies shall apply.
5. Candidates must also satisfy all other requirements as stipulated by the University Senate.
6. The delivery mode of courses is strictly online.

DURATION


The Postgraduate Diploma in Education programme through Open Distance Learning is for two (2) academic sessions.

How to Apply for the UNILAG Postgraduate Programme



Application Timeline

- Application Availability: Until Tuesday, December 31, 2024
- Submission Deadline: No later than Tuesday, December 31, 2024

Steps to Apply

1. Visit the Application Link:
- Go to https://applications.unilag.edu.ng/

2. Confirm Eligibility:
- Ensure you meet the requirements for your desired course.

3. Start a Fresh Application:
- Click on the “Start a Fresh Application” link.
- Select the Postgraduate option from the Application Type menu.

4. Complete the Pre-Application Form:
- Fill out the Pre-Application Form to obtain a Payment Reference Number.
- Print the payment advice.

5. Make Payment:
- Non-refundable Fee: N30,000.00 (Thirty Thousand Naira Only)
- Payment Methods:
- Remita Payment: Any commercial bank using the RRR number on the payment advice.
- Online Payment: Click the Pay Now link to pay directly on the portal with your bank debit card.

6. Continue Application:
- After payment, return to the application link.
- Click on the “Continue Application” link.
- Log in with your Payment Reference Number and use your surname in lowercase as the password.

7. Complete the Application Form:
- Fill in the required information.
- Upload a digital passport photograph (jpeg format), no more than 15KB in size, with a white background.
- The acceptable dimensions are:
- Width: 275 pixels (or 35mm)
- Height: 314 pixels (or 40mm)
- Note: Failure to comply with the specified image format may lead to disqualification.

8. Submit the Form:
- Review the information provided.
- Click the “SUBMIT FORM” button if everything is correct.
- If changes are needed, click the “DECLINE” button and make the necessary adjustments.
- Important: Only submit the form after it is fully completed. Editing after final submission incurs a N1,000 charge.

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Read Programme Requirements: Candidates must carefully review the requirements for their desired programmes to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria.

2. Ineligible Candidates:
- Candidates awaiting Bachelor’s degree results.
- Those currently undergoing Postgraduate programmes.
- Nigerian citizens who have not completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) assignments.
- Holders of Degrees obtained from Outreach/Satellite campuses.

3. Required Documents: Applicants must upload all credentials listed on the application form, including:
- Degree Certificates (not Statements of Results)
- NYSC Certificate
- Professional Certificates

4. Academic Transcripts: Transcripts must be sent to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies by postage or email to adminsecspgs@unilag.edu.ng before the start of the registration/screening exercise.
