The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily restricted access to the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for School Candidates released on Monday, August 4th, 2025.

According to a statement issued on Thursday, August 7th, 2025, by Moyosola Adesina, Ag. Head of Public Affairs, WAEC discovered technical issues during an internal review process after the release of the results.

Cause of the Issue
– WAEC implemented an innovation called paper serialization in Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics as part of its efforts to curb examination malpractice.
– This process, in line with best assessment practices, was adopted from another national examination body.
– However, a post-release check revealed some technical glitches in the affected results.

WAEC’s Response
– Access to the 2025 WASSCE results has been temporarily disabled on the result-checking portal.
– WAEC is working urgently to correct the errors and restore access within 24 hours.
– Candidates who have already checked their results are advised to re-check after 24 hours.

WAEC’s Apology
The Council expressed sincere apologies to all affected candidates and the public, assuring them of transparency and fairness in the correction process. WAEC reaffirmed its commitment to excellence, fairness, and professionalism in its assessment processes.
